A survey of 'shopping experts', conducted by Checkout Magazine, predicts a bright future for nutraceuticals, the combination of foodstuffs and medicines. Undeterred by public propensity to regard altered foods with scepticism, The Telegraph suggests that the market will actually be left open for these products precisely because of consumer hostility to GM foods: "In 2003 it is anticipated that GM foods will have disappeared from stores after being spurned by wary consumers."
